my Girlfriend has completely lost her mind and I can't get her to move out of my home. The home is in my name and not hers but she just will not leave. What can I do

This sounds as though it is a personal issue not a landlord issue.
If your "girlfreind" has never paid rent or any of the bills and is now uninvited she is trespassing. This means you can call the police to have her removed. Be prepared for the consequences.
If she has paid rent or any of the bills, regardless of your personal status with her she has the same rights as a tenant and you must take steps to evict her.
Either way it would be best if you dealt with the situation civily and diplomatically get the point across that she must leave. Tell it to her straight and set a date for her to be out by. If she does not move out simply put her stuff to the curb and change the locks (as long as she is not considered a tenant as noted above). You could also go as far as getting a restraining order if she returns.

With all due respect to Anon, your former gf would be recognized as a tenant in a lot of states, thus protected as such. To toss her to the street may cause you a heap of legal woes. Educate yourself with the landlord laws in your state and see what your options are. In my state, she would be considered a tenant, therefore i would serve her with a notice to terminate her tenancy, and if she didnt leave in the legally defined timeframe (usually 30 days), then i would start legal proceedings. Typically police will NOT become involved in a situation as yours, for it is considered civil, not criminal - dont waste their time. But if indeed she is posing a threat to you, thats another matter.

I agree with CA Landlady that you should be wary of the state laws in place. I am in NY and they actually have a law that allows tenants to move in an unrelated roommate and the landlord can do nothing to say about it, but in terms of their rights, if the tenant is forced to leave, the roommate does not take any tenant's rights with them. In a state like that I would assume you could just tell her to leave and then consider her trespassing. Outside of those assumptions, you would have to evict, properly.
