is landlord supposed to do this, or tenant? by Amit Dutta on May 22, 2001 @16:24

This is a single family home. Lease says "tenant is responsible for general yard maintainence". Some poison ivy has grown in the backyard that tenant wants chemically treated. Is this something that falls under maintainence - i.e. tenant has to pay - or is this something the landlord should pay for?

I think treating any growths like poison ivy or weeds, thorn bushes, poison oak is all part of yard maintenance. The more specific your lease is the better. It's good that you had the tenant responsible for the yard maintenance. George
