Avoidance - Landlord Forum thread

I have a tenant who has been avoiding me like the plague. She's late with her rent, has lived in the apartments for one month and has no answering machine to take my calls. I don't live close by to do a drop in, buy I need get a hold of her and find out what's up. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to handle such a tenant? Thanks

Thanks >> Carmen, You could send her a certified letter return receipt requested. She may refuse to pick it up, however. Do you know her work phone number? Call her there. Put a note on the door, keep a copy and take a picture of the door. I'd put a deadline for reaching you in the certified letter, 3 days max. You may have to evict.The sooner the better.
