You need to read your application to see what it says about the deposit.

Likely, it indicates that once you place the deposit you are month to month. If this is the case, you need to give 30 notice ASAP (and yes, you must pay rent for the month). Then she will be required to give you your deposit back. However, the first step is knowing what your application said.

And like the other poster said, it doesn't matter how many apartments there are, you agreed to rent that one and that is all that matters.

She didn't give me an application to fill out, she just took down my name and my cell phone number so therefore it doesn't say anything about the lease.
