When am I required to turn on the heat? by Boro M. (NJ) on September 26, 2008 @18:19

When I lived as a tenant in Chicago, the landlord did not turn on the heat until Oct 15th, no matter what.

Now I am a landlord in this house and have two tenants and I live in NJ.

Can anyone tell me when in NJ am I required to turn on the heat?

The heat requirements are state specific. Check with the local housing laws for accurate information.

Check your area. Some places require the heat to be turned on by a certain date. In my area there is no specific date, only a requirement that the unit be at least 70 degrees or more at all times.
