"Yes. Maine law allows your landlord to evict you at any time during the year and even if you have children. However, you cannot be evicted because you have children "What??? So, can you be evicted if you have children or not? Confilicting information, oh, that's right it came from a "TENANTS RIGHTS" handbook. Don't get your information from a tenants rights handbook. Read landlord/tenants rights laws for your State and local municipalities. There is nothing to stop a landlord from properly evicting a deadbeat nonpaying tenant anytime, regardless how many children.

I think they meant that having children is not a reason you can be evicted for.......such as if you were childless at move-in, but had a baby during the tenancy, they could not use it as a reason to evict. That being said, if you have children, it wouldn't prevent you from being evicted. That is my interpretation.

Exactly Susan. I didn't copy the rest but it went on to describe that a tenant cannot be evicted SIMPLY because they have children, that is, they cannot be discriminated against and evicted for the mere fact that they now have children. (Basically, repeating the Fair HOusing law.)
