I'm a renter ($750 per month House), my dog is outside and in a fence. I has to pay $750 pet deposit. My daughter had no were to keep her dog so I let him stay with my dog. Now, my landlord wants an additional $750 pet deposit for the other dog. Can she do this? This will be a total of $1500 pet deposit. My daughter tired taking the dog to other places, but, they were going to put the dog to sleep.

That is outrageous! You shouldnt have to pay any pet fee or deposit for any outside dog. The fee started for inside dogs tearing up everything, now they are charging for all dogs! for what? im 37 & my mom owns a lot of properties and she never charges for an outside dog, and the inside dogs are charged $200 or under refundable fee. People just wana rip others off

Outside dogs dont stay outside when it is 7F or snowing. So my guess is that this dog was inside this past winter.
As a landlord bringing the dog with out advising me results in a higher fee and possible non-renewal of the lease. Just best to tell us what is going on....no one likes surprises.

We charge one additional month deposit for pets regardless of insude or outside. Outside pets make it inside occasionally.

I paid 250.00 in the 70s, so seems it should go up by now with the expense of everything else sky rocketing. Just read one months rental is a good rule of thumb. I also rented my house, and the cat used all the door jams as scratching posts shredding them, you know that is not an easy fix, had to hire someone at like 4000.00 for 8 out of 12 doors, and could not afford it with the deposities, so just sanded it a bit and re stained myself. The landlords/ladies are at a greater risk when it comes to pets.
