Forgot to mention they said they will have the rent check for me when we are finished moving them in at the end of the day!

They're kidding right? It's not your responsibility to move them in unless ofcourse you agreed to it. I would get the payment first before I hand the keys. I also specify that the first payment be in cash or manager's check. Don't you have a lease agreement? You should really have one to protect your interest.

Keys are never given to tenant until all money is paid in full!! You better get a backbone to deal with these tenants. I can't believe you are even questioning if you should do any of these things. I hope you have a reallly good lease or even better a month to month agreement signed with these people. You better learn your lease by heart and get real aquainted with the landlord tenant statues for your state to know what you are required to do, proper procedure, and what is not your responsibility.

Nick, you better get in touch with these people and tell them you will need the money in cash before they move one thing and for sure before they get any keys. These people are going to move in and either not pay or pay you with a bad check. You need to watch out.
