money judgement awarded, what is next step? by michaell1999 (GA) on November 16, 2009 @16:49
I received a money judgement last month. What do I do next?
I haven't done anything since receiving the judgement.

My old tenant has a good job. They do not have any assets. They might have some money in their bank account.

The clerk at the Georgia magistrate court gave me a Summons of Garnishment. Can I also file a Summons of Continuing Garnishment at same time?

Garnish wages and bank accounts. File the judgment in the land records office in case they try to buy a property sometime in the next 10 years. You can also have an asset hearing to determine whether they have anything else you can seize.

Do you get a money judgement after filing at Small Claims? At what point of an eviction process do you file a SC claim? Is it after the tenant has been evicted and SD settled? Or is it after you have new tenants in the rental unit (assuming a year lease was broken so you can compute how long the rental was out)?
