I am sick of mailing a security deposit check by certified mail to tenant. They dont pick up. What other way I could use to have proof that I mail the check on time if I go to court. I dont want ex tenant (visiting) my house to pick up check

You don't mention your state, so I can't tell if certified mail is even required. Here's the postal website, choose another form of evidence of mailing.

In FL if you are returning full security deposit within 15 days then you don't have to mail by certified. You can get certificate of mailing to prove it was mailed. If you are making dedcuctions from check and sending it then you have to by law send it certified mail. If tenant doesn't pick up their money, its their problem. They have no right to come to your house to get it and if they tried to I would tell them to pick up their mail. Why would you be going to court if you send the check, but they won't pick it up?
