Mice by Missy (MD) on November 18, 2009 @18:13
The home has mice. I have had exterminators monthly, riddex blah blah blah. The only thing that settled the problem for me was a cat. If my tentant doesnt want a cat does anyone have any suggestions? sell the house? Its an end unit townhome.

You can treat the unit all you want. But if you don't close up their entrances, they will continue to come back. Find the holes in the foundation, in the exterior wall, where ever it is that they are coming in, and seal those holes. The holes can be as small as a nickel.

You also need to make sure you find their source of food. If there's no food, there's no reason for them to come in. I had tenants who used to leave cooked food, open tins, etc sitting around the kitchen and also trash overflowing from their kitchen trash can and they wondered why they had mice.

I couldn't get the mice under control until I got rid of the tenants and their filthy habits.

The new tenants have not had any mice at all but they keep the kitchen clean too.

In this situation I would probaly rent to a tenant that has cats. I wouldnt let the tenant have more than 3 or 4 cats. The cats you can charge an extra$15 for and then you will save money for them getting rid of the mice, this would be the go green alternative instead of using poisins.

I fumigated for termites a couple of years ago, and in the process killed mice (I didn't even know I had mice).
