They "settle" with you NOT fine you. They were a little vague who they were under but their agency = Intermountain Fair Housing Agency. IHFC.

I am using this forum to find out if others know more about this agecny and have had any similar experiences.

& also let other property manager/landlords KNOW that this can happen to them. One has to be very careful what they ask or say to potential tenants. These testers do call randomly and it is costly. No slap on the wrist for the first offense, they will settle and it could be HUGE $$$.

Are you sure you were not scammed?

    Intermountain Fair Housing Alliance

ifhcboise@idahofairhousing.org (for Idaho each state has their own Alliance)

all the paperwork and pamplets, etc. given us would indicate they are a legitimate agency.

Problem to me is= WHO REGULATES THEM? I think they may be connected to HUD but the rep who did our educational course was somewhat vague about who they answered to??

Yeah, this sounds peculiar.

In other industries there are "testers" that call to make sure there is no discrimination going on. In Mortgages it happens. so I am not sure it is that peculiar.

I just wonder if anyone regulates what these agencies are doing? who makes sure they are being FAIR to the landlord/property managers.
