REntal Abandonment

I rented to this mom with 4 kids, she moved out with no notice, abandoning the house, trashing it, and failing to pay for anything. She was supose to be making payments on the deposite and water bill, stuck me with all of it. How do I take her to court for the month and a half rent, and all of the damages?

Just mark this one up to experience. It is your fault anyway for letting such a deadbeat get into your pocket so deep.

Gee Fred UK - way to answer this posters question!!!! Anyway, if you know where this person works, gather up all your receipts, damages, advertising costs, etc etc etc. California demands that you provide her with a security settlement statement within 21 calendar days. Im guessing yours will show a negative balance. Go to your local courthouse and get the paperwork for small claims court. But please - read your responsibilities as a ll in regards to the security deposit statement. If you dont have a forwarding address, and i imagine you dont, send it to the last known address and prepare to have her served with small claims court paperwork at work. Thankfully in CA you can garnish her wages.
