Contacted by a "Judge Joe" producer by Mario (VA) on March 19, 2010 @14:02
I am not going on, but I can't believe the way they troll for "cases." While I like the idea of going on an all expense paid trip to LA for a few days, I think I have a better chance in front of a real judge. Besides, the appearance fee and per diem are not worth my pride. Just thought I'd share that with you all.

I always thought Judge Joe was a real Judge. He is not an actor is he?

Your biggest problem is that these are not true courts of law, no matter what they imply. The "judges" may in fact have been real judges, but the proceedings are actually a binding arbitration hearing signed by both parties. IOW, no appeals and no do-overs if the case does not go your way in the 15 minutes you are allotted. So when the judge gets pissed at one of the participants and capriciously dismisses the case, that's all she wrote.

If your case is of such a complexity that you need representation, stay away from these circuses. IF not, I would not take the risk of TV justice and go with your local small claims court.

I had a Judge Alex producer call me. I was going to do it, but the tenants didn't want to.

They way I feel, it's a win-win. The show told me they could only pay $5,000, so I assume they pay if you win. The tenants don't have money, so it's a win for them too.

The other option is to file a judgement and wait forever.
