New to Section 8 ... When do I get paid? by Daniel Wilson (SC) on May 4, 2010 @10:17

I've been trying to sell my SC home for almost 2 years ... took job & bought home in another state, lost job ... trying not to lose either home ...

So when a Section 8 tenant contacted my realtor, I jumped on the chance to get a renter w/ guaranteed payment.

Now ... when do I start getting the payments? She'd been in the home almost 3 weeks before the gov't sent me the first month's rent. I thought they were going to be direct depositing the rent for future months on the 1st of the month. It's now the 4th w/ no sign of the rent.

Do I need to bug them again about it? Or does Section 8 base payment dates on something ... else ... ?

Thanks!

Call your local housing authority to check on this.

We have only one Section 8 family; it took several months to get this direct deposit set up. Now we get the housing authorities part on the first of each month (if the first ends on a Saturday or Sunday we get this the friday before).

If your renter still has to pay her share (and most do) collecting this amount is between you and your tenant.

Once you receive that first pro-rated direct deposit, the next should follow on the 1st (here the local agency has changed the date to the 2nd) without interruption. You should call the local agency and let them know you haven't received it.
