That would certainly be an interesting way to get your tenant's attention. What does your lease say about the cable and internet? When your tenant calls to complain you can explain that the only way you have to pay the cable and internet is with rent money. Then follow up with a comment that you do not know how much longer you can keep the electric company from a disconnect. If there is a reconnect fee on the cable be sure to get it from the tenant. You might cut off the internet first and see what happens.

Billy - the lease says all utilities are included, and they are all in my name as the house has only 1 meter & cable service. I thought about starting with the cable...I will be out of town for a few days & if "something happens" to the router while I'm gone, well, what can I do? LOL! Just don't want to do something that can come back on me as harrassment.

Good idea to start with the internet. Act like you have no control over the shut off because the bill was not paid. But offer to turn it right back on as soon as you get some rent money. Next lease, expressly state that the utilities included are water and electricity. Verbally tell the applicants that the cable and internet are provided with "on time" payments.
