The link works but if I try to search for my ad it doesn't show up in the search results.

How are you trying to search it? Your ad is entirely a "post-it" type ad, meaning it doesn't have any searchable terms inside Craigslist (I think). If you search on the term "Downtown D.C." does it show up, among others?
