I never can understand the non-refundable pet deposit. Can't the damages be deducted from the human deposit? Can't the human deposit be increased to take care of the increased liability pet damage? If there is no pet damage, why is the deposit non-refundable?

Yes, the damages can be deducted from the human deposit. It is the same as increasing the human deposit. Pet rent, which is what I charge, is just rent. Get rid of the animal, rent is lower. Discourages pets, especially new ones.
Some landlords think the 'non refundable' means something.
