Renter needs to know by Angela & Keith M (PA) on January 15, 2012 @18:55

I rent a home in pa.
Not due to resign until September.
Friction between landlord and us.
Today landlord had appraiser come look at the home.
Can they legally put it on the market while we live here still?

Not only that, they can have appraisers, loan officers, real estate sales people, repairmen, electrians, plumbers, inspectors, county appraisers and propsective buyers or renters legally inspect/evaluate the house whenever they want. They just need to provide you 24 hours notice of their visits.

Your lease will transfer to the next owner. It can not be disrupted. The big question is what is going to happen to your deposit. When questioned, the new and old owners with do a finger pointing routine as to which is responsible. Nail it down early or it will get lost in the shuffle.

Yes. It may be best if you ask the landlord if you can exit the lease early when the house sells.

Yes. If you want to stay, behave nicely when the buyer looks at the place.

Also, if you are shall we say "not tidy", clean the place up and make a good impression or the buyer will understandably want you the hell out of there.
