I get what you are saying. After doing an eviction I find it ludicrous the amount of forms I had to fill out,the fees I had to pay just to get someone out of my place because they won't pay their rent. It feels like this should be so simple. One form to file, they get a chance in court to appeal and only granted if they can show they paid and next get them booted out within a week or 10 days. Unless there is money in it for someone no one will lobby for LL rights so unfortunately we are stuck with what we've got.

Yes, this being the second point : with good representation, we could reduce the paper work to the same level for the 50 states, and give more time to what is important in our business : take care of our dwelling and have fair healthy housing for everybody. I am tired of slums. Even if we do not own house in this poor part s of our cities, each of us here know that slum properties are the cancer of our business.

NO NO NO
We already have some federal regulation. Stupid asbestos pamphlets, the whole fair housing act. The feds can only make it worse, they can't reduce the state and local paperwork or mess with the local court procedures.
A better solution is to move out of tenant centric states like CA and NY. It was a major part of me choosing to leave NY for the south. That and of course the taxes. Oh and the weather.

The fees go both ways. For example, I have a judgment against a former LL, and I have to pay more filing fees to get the judgment recorded, to execute a Sheriff's sale, etc. I agree that it is ridiculous that, once one has been to court (and paid that first set of fees) and received a judgment, one STILL has to pay more fees to actually (hopefully) get what the judgment says you should get in the first place. But it does go both ways.
