Proposal for work to be done by Joseph (Florida) on January 29, 2012 @08:40

My wife signed a proposal, that's what it says on top PROPOSAL.

No he did not bring any supplies over but he stopped by Friday to give a permit which he said he took out for the work to be done. He said the city inspector is his best man and friend for over three decades. I'm not sure if it's real or not. I don't know the difference. I can't afford to lose the place.

I doubt anyone would want to lose their job because a pal of theirs is a contractor who didn't get a job. The city cannot take your home away because of it either.

Contractors threaten liens on properties all the time, mostly without basis. If you are worried, call your city tomorrow and talk to them about it. You may even find out the contractor doesn't have a license to practice.

Another question.....how did he get a permit to perform the work without the property owner's signature? Wouldn't happen in the city where I have rentals.
