I don't know what requirements MD has but, I would send them a friendly note reminding them of the increase. You (and probably the tenant) want everything to go smoothly. Reminding them of this item in the lease (that they signed a year ago) before it happens should provide for a smooth transition. Not reminding them and then having the wrong rent for the first month of the new rate puts you in an adversarial position.
