Can she give me notice early?

Ok I paid rent on the 3rd of every month my landlord gave me a notice on the 26th of last month can she do that or did she have to wait till the 3rd to give me 30 days

The law only says that she must give you a minimum number of days.
Your landlord was being nice by giving you more time than the minimum the law required.

I would double check the requirement for 30 days as you may be required to a notice of 60 days depending on how long you have been there.

Tenant's in California have an infinite number of rights. The Landlord is responsible to give you a reasonable amount of notice to terminate your tenancy. If you have been there under one year, she must give you 60 full day notice. More than one year, 30 day notice. What City and County are you in? Most large Cities have a rent board you can contact.
