Yes, you're liable for legal fees. Courts and sfreifhs do not file evictions or serve summons for free. She was probably planning on recovering the legal fees from your security deposit. However, she hopefully turned the full security deposit over to the new owner. So, she is stuck trying to collect from you now. You need to verify that the new owner doesn't also own the entity that sued you if the old owner sued you using a business name.
