Yes, that's what I do / have done too. If you've got a decent mail carrier they'll oblige but there are a lot of twits out there too.
I can always tell when my mail carrier is off sick or on vacation because I start getting mail for old tenants or previous owners of the property. I just write "moved" on it and put it back in the box.
