to the garden? sure.
None of my places even have a locked garden...so what is the difference...walk in without a key because there isn't a gate and lock...or walk in with a key because of the gate with lock. The key wouldn't open anything except the garden gate. If I didn't want him to have access to the garden..why would I hire a gardener?
Frankly, I don't understand why the garden gate is locked at all.

"Leave the side door key with the gardener"
Is the garden inside?

Post starts with... forgot to unlock the gate.
SO... apparently the side door and the gate lock use the same key. Solution seems to be... put the gate on a separate lock.
If landlord doesn't want to have tenants with separate keys for both door and gate..then some sort of master/submaster/key system has to be used.
OR...just take the lock off the gate.
