Obviously you are not paying the bill your landlord is. I bet if you were paying the bill your AC wouldn't be on when you are gone. It doesn't take that long to cool the place down once you get home. If you do have the AC on then your windows should be closed as it causes the AC to run harder and longer so yes he does have a right to ask this of you. Try being considerate to others and their expenses. Remember if the expenses go up so will your rent.

I do pay the Bill, FPL bill is under my name. Thank you for your reply, but don't jump to conclusion.

My mistake. I figured you wouldn't be that stupid if you were paying for it. It still does not change the fact that you are causing the AC unit to wear out quicker by running it the way you do. If you did not have the window open while running it then I would say that it was none of the LL's business when you ran the AC but since you have a window open then it is his business since you are causing more wear and tear on the unit.
