Communicate with your LL and explain the situation in writing. Get any agreement that may (hopefully) come about in writing. If the LL won't work with you then he/she will have a hard time in court getting much of a judgement.

If worse comes to worse, move put and hand over possession back to LL. be sure to document in writing. A potential money judgement is better than an eviction.
