I do not find KatieKate rude. I find her direct and helpful. If directly telling someone that they are being taken advantage of is rude to you then you need to tuffin up.

The OP is being taken for there hard earned $$'s. I believe everyone has something they are innately good at. For those people in business who are not good at doing business it is a mix for losing money, clearly! To be a business person you have to make hard decisions. Basically, if your good at business those who are not adding to the positive will NOT like you. To be the boss or the one in charge you can not be in a popularity contest, it is just not about that.

I agree why on earth would you allow someone to not pay you YOUR money? That is called charity. I say collect your rent and donate money to something you feel is worthy. If these tenants are near and dear to your heart and you want to give them a free ride then that is also your business.

To each their own.`
There are nice ways to word things that do not make a poster feel bad.
I "need to tuffin up" because I stated that I think someone's reply was offensive. Here is example of a unprofessional reply. A true professional does not make it personal.

Most Landlords that respond here find it unbelievable that a person has entered this business and do not understand the very basic's of what to do as a landlord. If they can not take constructive criticism, than perhaps they are not really ready to learn to be a good landlord. What they have done, by allowing their tenants to go months without paying rent and how they are not sure what to do now the tenants have left, shows that no one has done any home work! They have not done anything to educate themselves as to their state landlord laws. And now they ask for advice from the Landlords here, as to how to correct their bad mistakes, without being made to feel bad!

I have seen family members lose homes, yes more than one, because they were unable to be tuff. I see those family members struggling now with less than what they should of had because they could not be a tuffy. They felt bad for the tenants, and really felt they were trying to be a good person by helping out. Where did that get them? Do you think those tenants look back at the LL and think wow what a wonderful person to allow me to live rent free? Did those tenants give a flying spider leg when the property was forclosed on because the mortgage was not paid?

My strong words and maybe Katies are like a glass of cold water in the face. Its a shock but ment to help. If I didn't care I would not waste the time to try and get the point across.

Huh? By the same token, playing your wordsmithing game, a TRUE PROFESSIONAL would not permit the tenants to live free for MONTHS!

That's so lame, trying to imply and infer that someone is not a TRUE PROFESSIONAL. Trying to besmirch someone else to take the heat off you and your decisions must be subconsciously embarrassing for you.

Making something personal would be a vendetta against you, and personal also means we'd know your name.

You may want to spend some time on this forum and learn about more things so you won't be in this position again. Expect helpful responses, even if you don't agree with the words used.

Or maybe I should say : You might plan to expect some responses that range from warm and encouraging to impersonally objective, but that wouldn't discount the fact that the info is freely shared here and be encouraged to know that no one, in any way, is singling you out because of your post or decisions or opinions even is many of us disagree or shake our heads (all the while mentally hoping and encouraging you to be the best you can be!).
