Yawn...So that's why your tenants are yelling at you because you were so fast with clean up and carpet replacement....You should really invest some much needed time in learning your State Landlord Tenant laws so you would know what's required of you as a landlord(?). Have you replaced the carpet yet? Your replies seem too leave the impression you have not? Under Louisiana State law, you can not shift your responsibility for storm damage repairs to the tenant. Are you some kind of inhuman monster, no, just an uneducated landlord you tries to dump your responsibility on your tenants. You are the stereotypical image of a landlord that fails to maintain their property and expect the tenant to do it for you at the tenants expense! Yawn....
