You did the right thing.

Next time, though, get a written lease agreement that spells out everything even if it's just for the guest room, with access to other areas of the house like kitchen, yard, etc. or whatever.

People will take advantage of you as long as you permit them to do so.

I hope they leave ASAP and pay up. If they just leave asap and leave the place clean, i'd count myself lucky and not go after them for a fine or anything.
