Can you identify the stench? Is it from urine in the carpet? Is it from making meth? From cooking curry every day ? Does it smell like sewage? Like ammonia?

Call one of those serve-pro places and see what they can do. You need the big guns unless you know what the odor is, where it's coming from, and even then you may not be able to get it out yourself.

Had the same problem with a unit I had and there was mold underneath the carpet from what looked like constant water in a particular area of the room. http://rentalleaseagreement.com
