Pest control - again.

Sorry to bring up a not so popular topic. But... We have illegal tenants that we want to evict, since they dont have a lease, nor do the pay rent. In fact they have been destroying my property by chewing through walls. They also do not have a social security number, but they do have long tails. They keep everyone one up at night by making lots of noise behind the wall. Bottom line they are NASTY. And I want them out. Some of you suggested various types of poison in the past, but my hubby is concerned that they will die inside the walls and will stink unbearably. Is that true? My husband just sets up traps, which catch them, but its not helpful (just a waste of perfectly good peanut butter) I wish I could just change locks, and turn off utilities, but... I dont think this will deter these squatters. Please Help!!

Thank you for the smile ;-)
I think that poisons or most poisons make them very thirsty so they leave in search of a local watering hole. I have never had a problem with smell using bait poison, but have with traps.
Good Luck!!! Again thanks for the giggle.

Alot of people may find this inhumane, but it works wonderfully. Especially if you're the set it and forget type of person that has to deal with lotss of them squatters. I leave a new bucket in the basement every fall and dump them out in the spring.
My tip is to fill with 3 inches of water, and top with half an inch of cooking oil to keep the water from evaporating and keep the catches from stinking up the place. Cover with lid and toss when done. (make sure you install the wire and can low enough to put the lid back on when done).
I like to take a pre-emptive method to rodents, rather than have them be a problem first.
Also I never use bait on my snap traps. Too messy and I catch them just fine without bait. I like to use the cheap victor traps with the large yellow plastic triggers. Set them against the walls and toss when caught. $2 for 4 traps.. I rather toss out the whole thing than look as a dead mouse any longer.
