You can likely file a judgement for April rent, but you'll want to weight it out to determine if it's worth the effort. If he left you contact information, you can try getting it without a judgement(don't expect it though).

And lastly, yes, you can ding the tenants deposit to clean the carpet. But the situation must be as a previous post stated, in that the carpet must be in a condition that is beyond "normal wear and tear".
