Not a repair, but an improvement and as such subject to depreciation but not a deduction in full.

That can vary, if it falls within the allowable 179 deduction range you can take it all in one year. If you don't need to take the full amount, the depreciating and spreading it out over several years is an option. That is why these questions should be directed to a CPA, not a forum.
