His wasn't a rude or jackass response. It's logical that one person would approach the LL and ask why something was done if it hadn't been talked about already or wasn't in the lease.

The poster wrote a statement without a question being asked....just X happened to me/us. Do they want to know if they can withhold rent? break the lease? sue for damages? etc or did they just want sympathy? I think there is more to the story that the poster hasn't shared.
