I can't say, however, it appears to be another way for them to get money from this person. And, if the person is willing to pay. I can only assume the tenant didn't tell the company she didn't want to renew the lease, of course they may not have asked. As the other poster mentioned, I would clean the place when I left and take many pictures. I suspect this landlord will find things wrong, even when there isn't.

"I can only assume the tenant didn't tell the company she didn't want to renew the lease"

More than once the tenant said she gave the 60 notice.

Yes I gave a 60day not but it states in my lease that 125.00 comes out for paper work when I move. That is a ridiculous charge to sign papers I guess.I know they will also try and keep the remainder of the security deposit to just because that's how they work around here.I am not upset about that.I just am upset about her charging me till May 15th for a half month rent when I'm leaving April 29th.She said it's because I gave her 60day notice on march 13th,my lease was up april 29th anyway.I think a 30day notice was sufficient for my state anyway.Once I didn't resign my lease and gave her notice aren't we done?

Jake's right I glossed over that you'd given your notice. Having been both tenant & a LL, I just think they are jerking you around. However since your lease included the $125.00 fee there's not much you can do. You have to figure what your time and energy is worth to contest the 60 days. I'd be prepared however, if they want to ding you for damages. Personally, I'd chalk the 60 days up to the fact they didn't know enough to appreciate a good tenant. Good luck.

If the lease stated 60 days notice, then you need to abide by that. It appears that you only gave about 45 days notice, so they are correct in regards to the literal meaning. If you were a good tenant to me, I probably would work with you, but that's me.

If your lease requires a 60-day notice and you gave notice on March 13th, then you are required to pay rent through May 12th to cover the full 60-day notice period. Are you saying you gave written notice of non-renewal earlier than March 13th, contrary to what the LL says?
