That could be it then. It's screwed up, but they might be coming after you for not issuing the security deposit settlement statement. There can be some pretty stiff fines for that and triple damages in many states. I don't know where 500K comes from though...

Ever see that show on HGTV "Selling New York"?
Seriously hefty priced property on that show. Penthouses over looking Central Park. The realtor's commission is a 1/2 mil.
3 times the deposit, plus interest, plus attorney fees, plus court cost
