Sold house in January, and now buyer claims that seller updated heating system, and did not line chimney, but seller never could afford to to something like that. House was inspected, is it a little too late to has for that since the house has been owned by seller for months now? The heating system is not been updated in the 4 years that the seller owned it, as it was passed doen from family members.

Now I may be wrong and the parties involved would have to confirm with their attorney, but customarily, any repairs or requests for credits toward repairs needs to be addressed and ironed out prior to closing. Once all the inspections and what not have been signed off on and ownership has transferred, the house maintenance is the buyer's responsibility. Of course there are probably exceptions to the rule were there was an intentional misrepresentation or fraud.
