Yeah, that's what I was worried about.
If you were the landlord, what would it take to get you to let the people stay for another year? We just want to know how can we make it "worth her while" to let us stay?

If she is determined to get you out so she can sell the home, there isn't much you can do short of buying it from her.
Perhaps you can speak to her and try to convince her to let you stay through most of the renovations if they aren't the type that will cause habitability issues such as no water or bathroom or electricity, etc. She will continue to get money in her pocket from your rent payments (hopefully reduced because of all the rehab work you might be living through) as opposed to just having an empty house sit there for who know how long in this market. Maybe you can show her listings of similar homes priced below what she is asking that have been sitting on the market for months or longer to help her convince you to stay a bit longer.

Offer her more rent. LOTS more rent, and see if that would make a difference in her plans.
