Re: another insurance ? by Nicole (PA) on May 19, 2012 @14:20

that's what I'm doing. Previously, I just shopped price. This time,I'm trying to really understand how the policies work. Knock on wood - have never had a claim but if I ever do, I want to be sure to know I've got the coverage I think I do.

In my city, a few years ago several houses (the better part of a city block) blew up from a gas line leak. Of course, "no one" was responsible. A lot of the homeowners didn't have sufficient coverage to demolish & fill in the hold - can't remember what the reason was but something about the way the policies were written - not one home owner, most of them. Another time I was in Hershey, PA, and I saw a house that was "sitting sideways" with yellow tape around it. Seems a sink hole opened up under the house and again, no insurance coverage for that situation.
