Some termite exterminators use wicking action of orange oil. Others use electricity. Not sure how effective they are versus "gas."

Termites won't hurt you, bite you, eat you, crawl in your ear and lay eggs all the way to the other side where they exit out your other ear. They won't bother your baby unless you baby is made out of wood like Pinocchio.
