Re: carpeting v. vinyl flooring destructive tenants by Nicole (PA) on June 11, 2012 @14:11

in most of my places, I no longer have "wall to wall" carpet. what I do is measure the room EXACTLY, including 1/2 inch differences on parallel wall, indentations at doorways, etc. I then go to the local carpet outlet and they roll the rug out for me and cut per my diagram. I am then just rolling it out in the apartments - no labor involved. On some that are really odd shaped, I use vinyl tiles around the perimeter and then buy a big area rug that covers the majority of the room - perhaps you could buy a carpet and have it cover the "square" portion of the room.
