Re: carpeting v. vinyl flooring destructive tenants by Julie in PA on June 12, 2012 @11:00

I didn't think about the appeal factor of the carpeting. I'm just burned out on buying new carpeting. We just ripped out an entire house of 2y/o carpeting because the tenant had an undisclosed cat who peed on the floor hundreds of times in every room. BTW, she always had candles burning when I did my inspections so I never smelled anything until she moved out.
I'll try the area rugs but they're expensive too. I did pergo in the kitchen and the tenant had a mobile dishwasher that leaked onto the floor and soaked under the laminate. It just wouldn't dry out and you could hear the water squish sounds like wet sneakers. within a week the laminate flooring started curing on the edges and so we ripped it up.
The vinyl flooring I'm talking about LAYS COMPLETELY FLAT. it does not curl. It's super cool. You Actually use two sided tape to hold it down, not adhesive. Thanks everyone! Oh, and I, too, have used the sticky tiles around the edge of a room with an area rug in the middle and it looked pretty good!
