I wonder what "parts" he is concerned over. This will give you great insight for your relationship with him. Whatever it is he is pretty sure is not legal you can bet it is because he intends on or feels he has the right to violate that clause.

That's what I thought. He didn't like the clause that states the tenant is responsible for plumbing stoppages (what the heck is he planning to flush, I wonder?) and he didn't like that it says we have 60 days to return his security deposit. He wanted it to say we'd give it back on the spot after doing a walk-through just before he moves out. I changed it to 30 days, but said NO WAY are we committing to what he wants.

He also wanted us to use his friends for any repairs that need to be done. We said no way to that right off.

He's changed his tune quite a bit - seems like a blow hard who chills once you make it clear you're not taking his nonsense and you know what you're talking about.

Good luck, sounds like big trouble to me. Not being rude but I do hope it works out but I am afriad that it may be a bad situation for the beginning.

That's what we're afraid of, but the lease is already signed.

And for the record, we did check credit and references and he checked out fine.
