"Anonymous" posters by Nicole (PA) on June 16, 2012 @11:46

I wonder why people use "anonymous". Makes for some very difficult reading. So many answers are state specific and even the state isn't supplied. It makes following a thread difficult when you don't know if it's the same or different people responding. Would be nice if you knew it was the same person who responds routinely or if it's someone with one question and done. If you don't want to use your real name, what's wrong with making one up and using it every time - Barney Fife from NC, Myrtle from Mississippi, etc.

Just curious.

A number of the "Anonymous" posters are actually
tenant trolls.

Totally agree w you. It's annoying. My real name isn't Erica but at least people know its the same poster

Some "anonymous" posters are just pretentious trolls with attitudes against specific posters and opposing points of view. Some "anonymous" posters do so to avoid the occasional antagonism.

I might post anonymous only because I don't want my tenant reading the board and knowing I am asking questions on how to deal with them.

I have often wondered if something I have said could be used against me if that were to happen. What do you all think?

I figure this is a place for LL's to give and receive advice but a tenant reading this board could feel very angry knowing I was discussing there short comings with others.

If I'm not logged in, and I reply or make a post, and I type the security code wrong on the bottom where I submitted, it will not let me post till I fix the code, and by then, it would have erased my name and info, and I'd forget to re-type it and then I'm "Monogamous"! lol
But I agree with you, I wish there was a way to NOT be, even if it's a fake name, at least we know what the question is being asked, who, and where from!

I like to post as anonymous because it's one less login account I need to deal with. Frankly, I'd probably participate less if I needed to login in order to post. The anonymous option is just one less wall to climb.

It doesn't make for difficult reading. What makes for difficult reading are posts in run-on sentences, no paragraphing, not enough details, incoherent thoughts, trolls, unhelpfulness as with Jake sometimes, etc...

Sometimes, I just forget to type in my name or fix the security code and then I pop up as "Anonymous".

I agree with Nichole- the anonymous name is used by so many people that it's difficult to follow a line of questions and answers given. If it's an ongoing discussion and everyone is using the same name, then you can't tell who is saying what.
You can't tell if one person is clarifying their point or someone else is chiming in.

I don't have to log in to post- I just enter the first letter of my name and the name pops up. Even if I have to go back in put the code in.

Why not use a fictacious name. It is much easier than spelling anonymous. ?
