Sounds to me like this LL is making out very well in this move. You could have been a far larger ass about it then you have been. You could trash the place. You could just abandon it. You could keep stuff there through July at least so he can't rent it out since it's still legally yours until 7/31. You've followed the lease to a T. As a landlord, I can't say I'd ask for anything more than that. It also sounds like if I worked a little bit and rented it out in a reasonable time frame, I'd make a good amount off of this situation. What's his problem again? I'd rent to a tenant like you any day...
