When going to court for a money judgement, how do you prove they didn't pay rent?

NO, just make up any amount you want and tell the judge this is what the tenant owes. The judge will take your word for it. No problem.

You dont have to prove they didnt pay it, they have to prove they did pay it by cancelled checks or money orders that shows endosement on the back from you. The burden is on them.

It is hard to prove a negative. But.....do you have copies of the canceled checks or money orders you did receive? You could bring what you have - it would show you have good record keeping. The other post is correct - the burden is on them to prove they paid.
