Air Conditioners by Anonymous (MA) on June 21, 2012 @11:26

My lease specifically states that air conditioners can't be installed without the landlord's permission. There are three AC's installed.

Today and tommorrow we will be experiencing temps well into the 90's. Should I let it slide? They have two months left on the lease which I am not renewing.

Why no AC's? I'd assume these are the window units. They cause no damage if done correctly. That's a BIG if though... You never know what cock-eyed ways a person can put one of those things in.

Unless if you pay the electric bill, then that will go up a decent amount if they have those cranking at all times.

If the AC you have installed is inadequate, have you considered purchasing another and installying it yourself?

Is there central air in the home?
What are the issues you have with window AC?

Is because you are worried about installation damage or is it an electrical issue?

If it's installation issues, have a conversation with the tenants. Mention that the lease doesn't allow for them without written consent and you would need to inspect how they were installed to make sure it was done correctly in an appropriate place for your home and plugged in properly (as in not in an outlet that already has a power strip with 5 other items plugged into it, etc).
