I understand your frustration however there may be a silver lining. Take a photo of the AC units and if your lease addresses items permanently afixed to the unit becoming yours when the lease expires (landscaping, ceiling fans, light fixtures, etc), they may become yours when they leave. At the very least, scrutinize for damages, as youve mentioned.
